Slingsby Channel

On the north side of Bramham Island on the central coast of British Columbia is the Slingsby Channel, home to the world’s strongest current. The Nakwakto Rapids are the worlds strongest navigable rapids on Earth and can reach speeds of 31km per hour! When the tide ebbs, millions of gallons of water flow through the narrow channels and cause surges in water levels. At the channel’s narrowest point is Tremble Island, where brave rapid enthusiasts have been known to use ropes attached to the island itself to water ski in the powerful current!
